Pittsburgh is full of City Steps--shortcuts from the hills to the valleys. I've walked these from Troy Hill Road down to East Ohio Street and back many a time.

If you hung out the front window--or "sat out" on my mom's front stoop and looked to the right--here's the view of dahntahn. Nice view to wake up to for any kid! Back in the day, the Gulf building (the one with the pointed roof) had lights that predicted the weather if you knew the code.

This is the view straight across the Allegheny River from my Mom's house. The river is always full of activity: speed boats, water skiiers, tugboats, barges, Gateway Clipper fleet....
